Our Roots: A Musical Journey from Africa to Her Diaspora
February 28 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

In celebration of Black History Month, Santa Cruz based Afro-Brazilian band SambDá invites audiences to an unforgettable journey from the continent of Africa to the Caribbean and Brazil. SambaDá’s full ensemble spans diverse musical backgrounds, generations, and sensibilities. Together they have developed a type of samba-reggae-funk with a universal appeal. Drawing from percussion based styles of South and Central America and blending the familiar backbeat of funk and reggae, SambaDá musically unites the Americas in a sound that is both rooted and contemporary.
Featuring special guest master teachers from Mali, Burkina Faso, Brazil, Haiti, and the United States. Including Grammy award winning musician, Tammy Hall. This dynamic event offers more than a performance; it is an immersive, educational, and joyful experience for all ages!
