SUMMARY:"Bandstand"
DESCRIPTION:Music by Richard Oberacker\n Book and Lyrics by Robert Taylor and Richard Oberacker \nFinding salvation in a song – a powerful story of music\, survival\, and the unbreakable bonds forged in battle that will move you to tears and lift your spirit with its authentic 1940s big band sound! \nTHE STORY:\nSet in 1947\, “Bandstand” follows Donny Novitski\, a war veteran and talented musician who dreams of winning a national swing band competition with his fellow veterans. Haunted by the horrors of war and struggling to reintegrate into civilian life\, Donny and his band members find that coming home is more challenging than they ever imagined. When singer Julia Trojan\, a war widow seeking answers to her own painful questions\, joins the group\, their music becomes a path toward healing and hope. As they compete for fame and recognition\, these survivors must confront their demons\, support each other through invisible wounds\, and discover that the greatest battles are sometimes the ones fought after the war ends. Through soaring melodies and heart-wrenching honesty\, “Bandstand” is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the redemptive power of music. \nHONORING THOSE WHO SERVED: In recognition of Veterans Day and to honor military service\, we are offering promotional tickets throughout the entire run of the show. Please see flyer attached. \n\nVeterans & Military Service Personnel: 1 FREE ticket (Code: LVRVET)\nFriends & Family: $15 tickets (Code: VETFAM)

SUMMARY:Winter Solstice Blessing of the Waters & Prayers for World Peace
DESCRIPTION:December 21st\, 2025\,  is the winter solstice\, the shortest day of the year.   Khenpo Karten Rinpoche (Tibetan Buddhist monk and spiritual teacher at the Manjushri Dharma Center in Pacific Grove) will offer a Blessing of the Waters and Prayer for World Peace.   We will gather in community to send our good energy to the ocean\, to all of nature\, and to humanity.  Attendees will be provided with candles to light as we celebrate the light of love\, compassion\, and wisdom.  Attendees are encouraged to bring flower petals to scatter into the water\,  symbolic of our good wishes for the ocean and the world. \nSpecial Announcement:  \nThis year is very special\, because Rinpoche will be moving to Portland\, Oregon sometime next year\, and this may be the last time we gather together in-person at the winter solstice.  Although it is Rinpoche’s intention to return to conduct this ceremony every year\, life is unpredictable.   Please do join us for this special winter solstice event! \nMore information: \nPlease visit our website for more information including the prayer texts\, and a “do it yourself” Blessing of the Waters ceremony guide.  MANJUSHRIDHARMACENTER.ORG \nQuestions? \nContact Rachel Christopherson at rachelmdc2016@gmail.com.

SUMMARY:Labor Against ICE
DESCRIPTION:Trump’s second term has been marked by a dramatic increase in immigration enforcement operations\, including the deployment of federal and national guard troops to major cities across the United States.
