We will begin with the singing of the National Anthem\, followed by opening remarks from Del Rey Oaks Mayor Scott Donaldson\, who will set the tone for the festivities. \nProfessor Daniel B. Summerhill\, the first Monterey County Poet Laureate\, will share his captivating poetry with the audience\, enriching the atmosphere with his words. The event will feature esteemed guest speakers\, including The Honorable Yuri Anderson\, Monterey Peninsula College Board Member and Chief of Staff for Supervisor Wendy Root Askew\, The Honorable Alex Garcia-Arrazola\, Seaside Councilmember and District Representative for Assemblymember Dawn Addis\, Ms. Isabel Meza\, the District Representative for California Senator John Laird\, and Ms. Xochitl Guerrero\, the District Representative for U.S. Congressman Jimmy Panetta. \nWe are honored to have as our Guest Speaker of Honor\, Monterey County Sheriff Tina Nieto\, the first woman\, first openly LGBTQ\, and first Hispanic Sheriff of Monterey County. Her inspiring words will resonate with the community\, highlighting the progress we have made and the work that lies ahead. \nTo mark the occasion\, Del Rey Oaks residents Ms. Joetta Grant and Ms. Jessica Vargas will raise the Inclusive Progress Pride Flag\, symbolizing our commitment to equality and inclusivity. \nThe ceremonial portion will conclude with a closing song by Rouge Roulette\, captivating the audience with their beautiful melodies. \nFollowing the ceremonial activities\, we will embark on a Pride Walk from Del Rey Oaks City Hall to Del Rey Park\, where the reception portion of the event will take place. \nCouncilmember John Uy will deliver a warm welcome speech at Del Rey Park\, setting the stage for an evening of fellowship and celebration. Rainbow Cake and colorful food will be available for all to enjoy as we indulge in a delightful spread. \nWhile everyone savors the culinary delights\, speeches\, and performances will take place\, adding an extra touch of entertainment to the festivities. She taught photography at Monterey Peninsula College and Cabrillo College for thirty years\, until the 2020 pandemic induced retirement.  Four monographs of her work have been published: Past Lives\, Photographs by Martha Casanave (Godine\, 1991)\, Beware of Dog (Center for Photographic Art\, 2002)  Explorations Along an Imaginary Coastline (Hudson Hills Press\, 2006) and Trajectories\, A Half Century of Portraits (Image Continuum Press\, 2013).  \n Casanave’s photographs are included in many major collections\, including the J. Paul Getty Museum\, the Art Institute of Chicago\, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts\, the Cantor Arts Center (Stanford)\, the Bibliotheque Nationale\,  and the Museum of the History of Photography\, St. Petersburg\, Russia.

Join our mixed media camp!\n\n\n9:00 am – 12:00 pm \nAges 13-17 \nExplore art through different mediums and make something entirely new! MMA’s mixed media summer camp invites young artists to experiment with different mediums\, learn the history of mixed media\, and gain confidence in creating art out of anything! Highlights include traditional Byzantine mixed media\, masks\, collage-journal\, and more! Join our camp\, create art\, and build skills you can enjoy and use in your future art practice. The only universal material you need is your imagination!  \nMMA prioritizes the health and safety of your children\, and follows CDC and Monterey County Health Department recommendations. MMA Summer Camps have limited class sizes\, and will take place in a safe environment at our MMA Pacific Street location. Students will be required to wear a mask\, and follow 6-foot social distancing guidelines.  \nAge Policy: If a student turns the appropriate age by the end of August\, they are eligible to join the camp. For example\, a 4-year-old student turning 5 at the end of August can join a camp for 5 to 6-year-old students.  \nMMA Members at the $150 Contributor Membership level and above receive a 10% discount per class.
