Join Thomas Wittman for this informative class on effective gopher control methods that are safe for humans and the environment. \nGophers and other vertebrate pests take a huge toll in agriculture as well as your own backyard; as much as 10 to 50% of crops can be lost to animal pests. Instructor Thomas Wittman has been working on this issue for over 35 years and has come up with innovative methods and tools to reduce crop damage by managing pest populations in several ways. The most effective lethal traps and techniques will be presented along with exclusion barriers\, integrating pest predators\, and crop rotation.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special evening as we present “Tribute to the Mambo” with special guest saxophonist/flautist Mitch Frohman! Mr. Frohman and the Stanford Afro-Latin Ensemble will be presenting both classic and original repertoire paying homage to the classic New York Salsa and Latin Jazz scene during its golden era. There will also be a special mambo dance performance also! \nA seven time Grammy winner\, Mr. Frohman literally “lived” the New York Salsa/Latin Jazz scene through his 25-year stint as a key member of the legendary Tito Puente Orchestra as also as part of the Mongo Santamaria band for many years. He is now a bandleader in his own right as a founder of the Mambo Legends Orchestra and as a leader of his own Latin Jazz Quartet\, which released a critically acclaimed CD “From Daddy With Love”. \nMr. Frohman is internationally recognized as a pioneer in the idiom\, having been awarded Latin Jazz USA’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016. He has collaborated with all of the greats – Celia Cruz\, Joe Cuba\, Chico O’Farrill\, Machito\, Eddie Palmieri\, and the Spanish Harlem Orchestra – to name just a few! DESCRIPTION:The Friends of the Aptos Library is offering a series of workshops on Social Isolation: Strategies for Understanding\, Coping\, and Healing in a Disconnected World. On February 7\, the next workshop will be on the Emotional Impacts of Social Isolation\, presented by our 2nd District Supervisor Kim DeSerpa\, and former social worker\, who has lots of experience with this topic. The goal is to provide participants with an understanding of the ways these issues manifest themselves in people of all ages and to provide some tools and resources to help them navigate these difficulties so as to lead a healthier life.  \nThe final workshop\, Foraging Friendships as Adults will be held on March 7\, presented by Kara Hopkins\, a local transformational coach.
