Artistry and coastal charm collide in the 9th Annual Capitola Plein Air – Live Art Experience, October 21-27 brought to you by the City of Capitola and the Art & Cultural Commission.
The scenic coastal town of Capitola will be transformed into an outdoor art studio during the Capitola Plein Air Event, taking place October 21 to October 27, 2024. Forty talented artists will gather to paint the town, showcasing their artistic interpretations of Capitola’s breathtaking landscapes, vibrant architecture, and unique coastal charm.
The artists begin arriving on Monday, October 21, and will be painting in various iconic locations around town, giving spectators the chance to watch them create their masterpieces in real-time.
Meet the Artists on Friday, October 25, from 10am – 2pm, in Esplanade Park, Capitola Village. We invite the public to meet the talented artists as they showcase their skills and create stunning artwork right before your eyes. Live music by local favorites Ripatti and Rose, whose enchanting melodies set the perfect atmosphere for a morning of creativity and community.
“We are excited to invite the community to join us in celebrating the art of plein air painting,” said Kim Molloy, Event Specialist. “This event not only highlights the incredible talent of our participating artists but also fosters a deeper appreciation for the beauty of Capitola.”

Vote on your favorite artwork to win the People’s Choice Award, listen to live music from Cement Ship, create your own interactive art, and enjoy Saucy’s delicious food truck.
